I understand this feeling because I have felt it. Church in the minds of many has become a building, a service, a group of people who don’t really like each other working really hard to follow the rules. Why would anyone want to be a part of that?
Church, however, is not supposed to generate these thoughts and feelings. Church = Community. Church shouldn’t be about the service, the building, or rules; rather, it’s about the people, the community. People together on the journey of faith, asking questions and exploring doubt. People committed to hope, encouraging and reminding each other of truth. People of love, supporting and caring for others. People seeking renewal, celebrating and serving the city.
Crossbridge Church | Brickell is seeking to be this kind of church. A community for anyone, skeptic or believer. A community committed to faith, hope, and love. A community that partners with families to create environments where kids thrive. A community that loves, celebrates, and serves this city. A church that generates thoughts and feelings of grace, love, acceptance, and community.
This is who we are because of what we believe. We believe that Jesus Christ has done what is necessary to bring us into relationship with God, and only by this grace are we reunited with God. The grace of the gospel is not a list of rules to follow, rather it’s that Jesus has given us Himself. Religion says, “Follow the rules, perform for God, and you will receive love and forgiveness.” The gospel says, “Respond in faith to the God who loves you as you are and has purchased your forgiveness on the cross.”
Crossbridge Church | Brickell is a church that lives in response to the love and grace God has shown us. We aren’t performing for God. We are responding to God. And you are welcome, as you are, to investigate, question, and explore faith alongside us. We won’t ask you to perform for God, but our hope is that you will respond.
