We live in Miami, it’s sunny and hot – but of course we love it. Coffee is a vice for many (most of us), but if you’re anything like me, then a latte when it’s 98 degrees outside sounds slightly less than ideal unless you’re under a fan or deep inside an air conditioned building. Box Coffee is opening next week in Wynwood, and they are a serious game changer.
Box Coffee is the brainchild of partners Bec Milgrom and Lucas Cravero, who both come from backgrounds in craft beer, and stumbled upon a concept they knew would be a hit in Miami. Bar manager Brian Hayes has been in the coffee world for over a decade and is a master behind the coffee bar. I can vouch as during my sneak peek I had 6.5 of their amazing coffee creations and was wired for the rest of the day. Their cool concept (pun intended) is making them Miami’s first Cold Brew ONLY Coffee Bar.
Think iced coffee mocktails! Their menu has everything from a minty take on a mojito with the, you guessed it – Mojito Mint [cold brew coffee + brown sugar + mint + muddled lime served over crushed ice in a 16oz compostable cup] to a very Florida fresh option – Florida Orange Fizz [cold brew coffee + muddled orange + grapefruit + blood orange fizz]. If you’re a fan of the trendy Moscow Mule, you’re going to love their Ginger Mule [cold brew coffee + rosemary + lime + ginger beer]. All of their “cocktails” are made with locally roasted favorite, Per’La Specialty Roasters cold brew that is housed in brew tanks, that are actually one barrel beer fermenters that they’ve repurposed, behind the bar.
If tea is more your style, they’ve got you covered because they are also pairing up with another local company, JoJo Tea to make cold brew tea mocktails as well. There’s talk of a Hibiscus Tea Agua Fresca with Lime and Watermelon chunks. It’s basically going to be heaven on earth with summer right around the corner.
Sticking to their love of local companies and collaborations, the space has been built with the help of Little River Box Co., who creates environments by converting shipping containers into short-term and permanent installations serving the event and hospitality industry. You may know them from their recent build out of Charcoal located at Wynwood Yard. They’ve got a bar box similar to the bar at Charcoal where they will be serving up the coffee cocktails, highlighted by a fun colorful mural painted by Kazilla, whose work can be seen all over Miami.
Box Coffee is ready for those coffee induced munchies and will be serving pastries made personally just for them by LaSage Bakery, a local artisan small batch bakery. They’ve got some delicious creations happening that you’ve got to check out.
Box Coffee with be taking the world (or at least Wynwood) by storm early next week. They will be open from 8am to 7pm seven days a week. Keep an eye out for them and in the meantime follow them on Instagram for updates.
