Miami Heat fans, rejoice! No longer do we have to cringe at the T.V. while watching Dwyane Wade play alongside Lebron James in gold and burgundy uniforms. Our minds no longer have to fumble between wishing the best for D. Wade while consecutively wishing the worst for the Cavs. This awkward era of not having Wade in a black and red jersey is finally over…That’s right, Dwyane Wade is coming back home to the Miami Heat!
Whether you were one of those that burned his jersey when he left, or one of those who framed it, we should all be thrilled about Wade’s return. Not to be, would be disrespect to the man who helped lift the Miami Heat to multiple championships.
No one is denying the pain and even anger felt when Wade first left. But the past is the past, and we must move on. Per the Miami Herald, the Godfather Pat Riley said in a conference call, “It was a sad day when Dwyane Wade left and it’s a beautiful day that he’s back.”
After thirteen seasons and three championships with the Miami Heat, everyone figured Wade would be back to retire as a Heat. But his return is joyous for more reasons than just that. It feels good to have Wade back not just because we feel this is where he is supposed to be, but because having a player of his caliber is helpful especially if the Heat want to continue their run in the playoffs.
Wade can and will make a difference to this team. With Dion Waiters out for the season and Tyler Johnson’s struggles, Wade will have an important role, not just mentally but physically. The NBA trade deadline always brings unexpected, jaw-dropping moves. This one brought Dwayne Wade back to the 305. Welcome back, Wade.
