Finding a decent and well-priced lunch menu in Brickell can take time, especially if you are trying to find place with both exceptional food and an appealing venue. This week, we went on the lookout for a restaurant that could meet these two demands and we have good news; La Lupita Restaurant and Bar is cozy, affordable and tasty. Keep reading to find out how this adorable Mexican taqueria scored based on our ratings of food, service, venue and style.
La Lupita restaurant offers authentic Mexican cuisine. Their menu is packed with typical Mexican dishes including tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas and fajitas. They also offer delicious appetizers, such as chips-and-guac (a must) and handcrafted margaritas.
The best part is that their menu will not hurt your pocket. La Lupita offers Brickell locals daily specials, lunch specials, “Taco Tuesdays” and of course a happy hour deal Monday – Friday from 3PM to 8PM.
When we visited, we decided to try their taco lunch special, which includes 3 of your favorite tacos and a soda for $11.95. We went for the “Baja” tacos, which is fried Mahi-Mahi tossed in a creamy chipotle slaw with a few drops of lime and we’ve got to admit, this dish did not disappoint. Although some might feel the serving size might leave a few foodies hungry for more, we thought the dish had a beautiful presentation and just the right spicy “kick” that Mexican food is known for.
The service was one of the best we’ve had locally. Not only were the servers quick and efficient, they were also very attentive and courteous. As soon as we got to the restaurant, we were offered a place to sit and a menu. Waiting time for food was also short, considering there were a lot of customers at the restaurant. Servers were also very attentive to our experience, constantly asking if we needed more drinks or were satisfied with the food.
Although it’s not a big space, La Lupita Restaurant offers a cozy and “homey” atmosphere. Its venue is also very versatile, perfect for whether you’re just searching for somewhere to have a quick lunch or a place to grab a beer with friends. It also offers indoor and outdoor seating, good music, and for sports fans, a big screen flat screen TV facing its outdoor tables.
Two words. Mason jars. (So Cute!) Although small, this place certainly knew how to incorporate authenticity into their cuisine presentations. Our sodas were served in adorable mason jars and our tacos were assembled nicely into large gray ceramic plates that made the colors of the delicious food stand out. The place also had traditional Mexican decorative accessories including colorful tablecloths, centerpieces and straw hats.
Brickell Living Score: 4/5
Overall, we were not disappointed after our visit to this local taqueria. La Lupita is an underrated restaurant that we believe busy Brickellites could enjoy and we recommend checking it out. As their cute outdoor chalkboard said, our mind might say gym, but our hearts say Tacos.
